Robotech: Third Invid War – UEEF – CVR-4 Body Armor

CVR-4 Body Armor

Robotech Third Invid War CVR4 Body ArmorIn 2038, the UEEF command approved a proposal to update the CVR-3 series body armor with new technology. The alliance with the Sentinels races following the First Invid War led to an exchange of technical knowledge and many new discoveries that could improve the UEEF’s military designs.

One of the most dramatic discoveries was molecular-aligned (MA) metallic alloys taught by the Spherisians. MA alloys involve molecule chains arranged in interlocking geometric patterns. This eliminates material flaws and dramatically increases alloy strength. The procedure is similar to how jet fighter turbine blades were produced in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. However, the MA process is far cheaper and permits manufacturing on a much greater scale. MA alloys form the basis of the new CVR-4 body armor, intended to replace the older CVR-3 armor currently in service.

CVR-4 body armor comes in two different versions, a standard version and a CVR-4C heavy combat version. It features increased strength at the cost of some flexibility and agility. CVR-4C armor is specifically designed for the VR-152 Battler II and the VR-112 Samson. It will not work with other cyclone models. Both versions are fully sealable, protecting the wearer from gas and other airborne hazards, and typically holds enough oxygen to last for several hours.

CVR-3 and CVR-4 standard armor is interchangeable, meaning that a CVR-4 (but not CVR-4C) armor will work with older VR-0XX cyclones. Likewise, CVR-3 armor will work with the VR-1XX second generation cyclones (except the VR-152 Battler II and VR-112 Samson models.)

Like CVR-3 armor, CVR-4 and CVR-4C armor is available in separate styles for men and women.
